Yoann Combémorel

Conductor

About

Emerging French conductor Yoann Combémorel is an exceptional young talent who exhibits clear technique and a magnetic stage presence. From Mozart to Puccini, Bruckner, Messiaen, and Boulanger, Combemorel’s wide-ranging repertoire reflects a deep interest in contemporary and underrepresented music, highlighting and rediscovering works by women and African American composers who have been historically overlooked.

Equally at ease with opera and symphonic repertoire, Yoann brings an artistic vision rooted in human rights, using music as a way to engage audiences in reflection on today’s pressing social issues. Firmly convinced that access to education and the arts is essential to building a better world, Combémorel founded the Orchestre Philharmonique des Alpes and the summer festival Festiv'Alpes, where he serves as both music and artistic director. Through these initiatives, he seeks to provide accessible culture, musical training and artistic development to the villages of the French Alps—his home region—where such opportunities have never before existed.

In April 2025, Combémorel uncovered a previously lost manuscript by Samuel Barber that has never been recorded and plans to premiere it during the 2025–2026 season.
